Job Summary: Responsible for daily care of all surgical patients, assist doctors and technicians with surgical and anesthetic procedures, general housekeeping.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

? Triage all patients as they are checked in. Report health concerns to veterinary technician or attending

veterinarian

? Restrain all patients during anesthesia induction and intubation

? Monitor all patients on gas anesthesia

? Prepare patients for surgery as instructed

? Transport patients from prep room to operating room

? Assist veterinarians in surgery as needed

? Keep supervisor informed of animal behavior, health, or concerns

? Assist clients with necessary paperwork

? Monitor patients in recovery

? Provide excellent patient care

? Perform daily cleaning of kennels, cages and public areas when necessary

? Stock prep room and operating room

? Spot clean throughout the day

? Clean prep room and operating room at the end of the day

? Wash and sterilize all surgical packs throughout the day

? Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:

? Must be able to learn basic veterinary medical concepts including but not limited to vaccine

protocols and anesthetic risks

? Must also be able to communicate basic veterinary concepts to owners and be able to repeat

information relayed by a veterinarian

? Will be asked to take medical histories for surgical rechecks

? Will be asked to communicate with the public on a daily basis in a professional manner

? Will be asked to handle (on average) 30 dogs and cats per day

? Must be able to learn characteristics of animal behavior (for example: be able to identify aggressive or fearful behavior)

? Must be able to use appropriate safety equipment for fractious or feral animals (will train) ? the use of safety equipment is mandatory

? Must become proficient at animal restraint for various procedures

? Must be able to work standing or sitting for 8 or more hours

? Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day with help

? Must have reasonable degree of agility to move through tightly cramped areas in various situations

? Able to speak English and Spanish preferred but not required

? Able to drive 33ft Winnebago (mobile clinic) preferred but not required (can train)

The position is LIVE-In and shares a 2-bedroom coach house with a female Graphic Designer/Personal Assistant. The coach house is lovely. It’s detached from the main house, has a private entrance, as well as hardwood floors and private balconies. Located on an estate property located in the Chapman Woods area of Pasadena, the grounds include a 20-room main house, 2-bedroom coach-house, basket ball court, gazebo, and swimming pool with Jacuzzi.

POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

1. Housekeeper/Nanny

This position requires strong house management skills. The Housekeeper will provide regular and occasional deep cleaning and help coordinate the activities of contractors, gardeners and other property maintenance workers. The candidate must be fluent in English (reading and writing). Prior child care experience and strong organizational skills are required. The Housekeepert/Nanny will work a total of 26-7 hours in exchange for the residence. Hours will be divided into 2-day shifts and 2 evenings. Specific duties include:

 Housekeeping: Dusting (some on a step ladder); Floors (wood and marble); Bathrooms; Kitchen (cleaning refrigerator and top of cabinets); Outdoor patio furniture; Laundry (including baby diapers); and, Watering indoor plants.

 Child care: Caring for the 23-month old son (feeding, changing and playing); Caring for 11-year old daughter (school pick-up, monitoring chores and homework, overseeing play dates); Cooking meals; and Overnight care in the main house when parents travel.

 Pet Care: Caring for 1 standard poodle (feeding, administering medication, walking, brushing, driving to groomer and veterinarian)

 Dinner Party Help: Dinner parties (Set up, serving, cleaning up); Shopping; Errands; Child Care; Pet Care; Bringing in the mail; and, Other tasks as needed.

 Compensation: In exchange for 20 hrs of work, the Assistant will receive their own room in the coach house and all utilities paid including DSL, and 2 weeks off for vacation. On an annual basis, Assistant will receive a bonus. For the additional 6-7 hours each week, Assistant will receive a stipend of $400/month. This is a perfect opportunity for a Housekeeper/Nanny who has other clients in the area. We can refer friends for additional work.

SPECIAL PERKS

Assistant will be offered the opportunity to take trips with the family in exchange for some child care while on vacation. Candidates are not required to have previous technician experience, but should have prior horse handling experience.
